More on Richard Mosse - what a pleasure meeting the man this weekend and hearing him discuss his experiences photographing conflict in the Congo as well as the impetus behind these powerful images. I spoke to him about the mechanics around hauling a bellows camera around highly chaotic and unstable warzones, not to mention the instability of the (discontinued) aerochrome film stock he uses to shoot images that reveal the infrared spectrum. Some issues that were touched on: the complete saturation of war images in the media so much that they have lost the ability to impact people, these infrared images  - he shoots blind as not until the film is developed can you see the striking magenta hues so evident in these images, and how resourceful exactly  (and tweaked, really) an irish contemporary artist Guggenheim fellow, educated at King's College London and Yale has to be to insert himself and expect to come out with his life to wartorn areas, bribery was helpful but I definitely wouldn't say he came out unscathed.
