Louis Vuitton is attempting to stop Danish artist Nadia Plesner's use of the LV logo and apparel in her Divest for Darfur campaign.
Apparently it's okay for Louis Vuitton to associate itself with Takashi Murakami or Richard Serra, who, presumably, don't critique culture/social issues quite as blatantly as Nadia Plesner. I have argued that indeed Takashi Murakami severely critiques both consumer culture and the only instance of atomic weapons used on a civilian population. I guess Murakami's message is disguised by too much kawaii to bother the likes of Louis Vuitton.
